How to Apply Eye Makeup like a Pro!

All about False Eyelashes

False Eyelashes are becoming more and more popular. With so many styles available, false lashes come in natural, glamorous, individual, and even feather! Also, lash extensions are becoming more popular since they are a longer lasting option.

Let's go over the differences:

Individual false lashes - These are small "clusters" of lashes. Usually they are about 4-5 hairs knotted at the end. A few of these pieces can be applied at the outer corners, or all the way across the lash line. They can look really natural, since you don't see a lash band, and you can also mix different lengths for a natural finish.

Strip Lashes- Strip eye lashes are as the name implies. This is one long strip that is applied to the eyelid as close to the lash line as possible. Sometimes the edge may need to be trimmed so that it can fit the width of the eye. Don't trim the length, since it will leave a blunt, unnatural looking edge.

Strip Lashes now come in natural styles, and aren't like your grandmothers scary spiders. However, more dramatic lashes are available for a thicker, longer look, or for stage, etc.

Demi-Strip Lashes- These are pretty much about half the width of strip lashes, and just fit on the outer corners on the eyelid. I like these for beginners, since they can be easier to apply.

Lash extensions- Lash extensions are great for a semi-permanent eyelash. These are NOT to be confused with individuals. The process of having a pair of lash extensions can take up to 2 hours, and is very tedious. Usually the client lays down, with their eyes closed, while the trained technician applies 1 single synthetic lash hair to a natural lash. About 30-90 lashes are applied to one eye. I am trained to do lash extensions, and I believe this is the most natural option if you want longer looking lashes. I don't do them anymore, but if you are looking to have them done, I recommend a technician who uses Xtreme lash products. I've tried all kinds, and I believe they have the best and safest lash extension products on the market, and have great training for their lash stylists. Read more about lash extensions.

If you decide to get lash extensions, you must take good care of them so they last as long as they should.

Since you have a lash cycle of 60-90 days (the time from where a lash starts to grow from when it falls out), you need to have refills done from the natural shedding of lashes.

Grow Eyelashes. An even better way to have more lashes, is to grow them. Lash growth stimulators are popular formulas
